Portugal recently set a new record in electricity supply by being powered entirely by renewable energy for over six consecutive days, from October 31st to November 6th. Redes Energéticas Nacionais (REN) announced this milestone, showcasing the country's commitment to increasing its renewable energy share from 56% to 85% by 2030.
During this period, Portugal generated 1.102 gigawatts of electricity, surpassing the 840 gigawatts consumed. The excess electricity was exported to Spain, demonstrating Portugal's capability to meet its own energy needs while contributing to the Iberian Peninsula's energy supply.
RW Portugal supports these efforts by adopting electric passenger vehicles, including six fully electric and one hybrid. This transition has enabled RW Portugal to save over 50% in operating costs compared to fuel-powered vehicles. Additionally, the company conducted a pilot test with an electric vehicle for a strategic client, Nespresso. The vehicle operated around Lisbon without needing a recharge.
RW Portugal continues to innovate with environmentally friendly measures that also promote economic efficiency. By leveraging Portugal's favorable weather and following REISSWOLF's sustainable practices, the country is paving the way for a greener, more economically viable future. This example illustrates how both individual and corporate actions can significantly contribute to global environmental goals.
